We’re currently trialling some extra steps to make sure you get the most from your consultation.
The pre-consult check takes about 60 seconds to complete, and will make sure your camera, microphone and speakers are working and ready.
Permissions
The first step is making sure your browser has permission to use your camera and microphone.
When you click “Continue” you will see a popup asking for permission to access your camera. We recommend 'Always allow' or 'Allow while visiting this site' so that you can skip this step for future consultations.
Note: If you've previously given permissions when joining a video consultation in the past, you probably won't see this screen.
You might also see the browser app (Chrome, Safari, etc) ask for permission, depending on if you've previously allowed your browser permission to use your camera and microphone.
You’ll have to repeat this process to give permission for your microphone.
If you don’t allow access for your camera or microphone, you won’t be able to access the waiting room for your consultation and your doctor will call you directly.
Internet Connection
The next step is making sure your connection is stable, and fast enough for a video consultation.
If there are no issues found, you’ll proceed to the hardware check.
Hardware Test
The final step before entering the waiting room is checking that your camera, microphone and speakers are all working.
Camera
If you gave permission to access your camera in the earlier steps, you should be able to see yourself. Just click “Yes” to continue.
If your camera isn’t working properly, or if you didn’t give permission to access the camera, you can still continue to the video consultation by clicking “No, continue without a camera”.
Microphone
To check your microphone, speak out loud and see if the dots move. You won’t be able to click “Yes” until the sound is detected.
If your microphone isn’t working, or you click “No”, you won’t be able to access the waiting room for your consultation and your doctor will call you directly.
Speakers
Click the white play button and make sure you can hear the sound that plays. If you can’t hear the sound, check your volume settings to make sure your volume is loud enough.
When you click “Yes” your pre-consult check will be completed. Click on “Join Consultation” to enter the waiting room for your video consultation.
If you click “No”, you won’t be able to access the waiting room for your consultation and your doctor will call you directly.
